Referees - What do they learn at Ref School?

Much discussion over the season about the men in black.

Referees have a thankless, unenviable job and for the most part I won’t hear a word said against them but you do wonder after the inconsistencies of recent weeks what they learn at Ref School.

Refereeing, despite all the punditry, is a game of judgement. Yes, there are rules but the decisions are instinctive and therefore down to interpretation in the split second the poor bloke in the middle has to decide.

So I say leave them alone.

Stop pillorying them and don’t condemn them by camera.

One thing, though, they should be allowed to explain their decisions on the box after matches.
